We’re inspired by experiences with local vouchers used overseas – e.g. Berkshares, a voucher system involving local businesses in the US. ABC reported the launch (3min) and BBC ran a story on the uptake of the vouchers by the business community, banks and the council. CBS news ran the story too.

CNN reported on local vouchers used in Lewis, (UK) - an initiative of the Transition Towns movement. Regionally scaled currencies have also spread widely in Germany, Bavaria and Austria …..

There’s nothing to prevent something similar happening here in the Wairarapa!
